Welcome to the home of the Chess Association for Arkansas Schools.  CAAS is dedicated to promoting chess as an extra-curricular activity sanctioned by the Arkansas Activities Association.  Since 2001, CAAS has been promoting chess in Arkansas schools by  organizing and conducting the regional and state interscholastic chess championships.

Free tournament regulation chess sets, including boards, might be available for your school from the U.S. Chess Trust's Chess-For-Youth program.

The Forms page has our Membership Application and Voting Authorization forms.  You can also find an application for a scholarship now available from CAAS.  There is also a link to the Arkansas Activities Association "Certificate of Eligibility for Non- Athletics" Form.

The Tournament Calendar includes not only CAAS events, but upcoming local tournaments where your chess aficionados might want to try their luck.  The Events page also lists links that allow you to review past events, including the results.

Our Player Database can be searched by player or by school.  Use it to find out a player's current rating.

You can learn more about CAAS tournament play by visiting our Tournament Rules and Tournament Play FAQs pages.

While you're here, feel free to read our Constitution and Bylaws, find Guidelines for starting a chess club in your school, and learn about the many Resources that are available to help you initiate and improve your scholastic chess program.

To learn about scholarships available through CAAS, go to our Scholarship page.  You can also find out what scholarships were awarded for the graduates of 2009 and 2010 here.

If you'd like to join CAAS, go to our Membership Application page
